Introducing Quality Course Guidelines
The Monterey Institute has developed two sets of guidelines for quality online course evaluation and development. The Online Course Evaluation Project (www.edutools.info) is a set of guidelines that expert reviewer teams use to evaluate existing courses submitted for review. Reviews may be privately commissioned for independent assessment and feedback, or made publicly available to other institutions searching for sources of online courses to adopt.
The National Repository of Online Course Guidelines shape the development and redevelopment of courses that make up the NROC library. These guidelines, based on learning theory and best practices in online education, cover ten essential domains and describe how to create effective high-quality online learning experiences. In August, members of the NROC Network will be participating in online discussions and training session about using the guidelines in their institutions.
